6 Elements To Achieve Successful Blended Learning.
Most of the students have been learning through the traditional way for years. The traditional way is the way in which the teacher explains the lesson alone without any kind of interaction from students who are receiving information. In this Way, The students are passive. In the past, Online studying was exclusive only for students who are distance-learning learner and study fully online. Then, Blended learning which is mixing between technology and traditional way appeared. It is used in daily classes right now. On the other hand, teachers should know that they can not use them equally. There are 7 essential elements to accomplish blended learning. There is a theory explains them and their role in the process of blended learning. It is called The Complex Adaptive Blended Learning System (CABLS Framework).
Elements Of Blended learning .
The Complex Adaptive Blended Learning System (CABLS Framework) theory is considered the corner stone to apply successful blended learning. This theory explains how teacher can implement tech in education. Furthermore,It can be applicable on all educational levels .
1) The Learner
When you look at this framework, you will find that learner is in the middle of the framework ,for the whole process of learning is about the student. The students are engaged in many activities. Therefore, the student will be active, and interact in the class . This method confirmed the transformation from being passive to becoming active.
2)The Teacher
The role of teachers ,in blended learning, are different form their role in traditional way .They co-evolve with the students. If they engage with blended learning, they will be able to design courses which fit the student's needs. Therefore, their role and identities may change to be mentor ,facilitators or advisors. As a result, the students will be responsible for their learning process.
3)The content
The content is the subject matter and materials used by students. The content must be designed to fit blended learning. It must be engaging .That means many activities can be applied on it ,so the students can be engaged. It must be media reach .The teacher can upload the materials anytime he wants(before, after or during the lecture).Furthermore, the students are given chance to access the content anytime and anywhere. The content is determined by, the learner, the teacher, the technology, the learning
support, and the institution .The choice of content must depend on them.
4)Technology .
Technology is equipment ,used in blended learning, that ease the delivery of information.
There are huge amount of tools can be used. The teacher has to test them all to decide which one or kind can be suitable for the learner, content and institution to keep ,and which one or kind can not be used to be discarded. The teacher and students must know their role to access the content through technology. As a result ,the teachers face more challenges because they have to understand their role well ,and explain to the students their role .Thus, that leads to the second element which is Learning Support.
5)Learning Support
There are two kinds of learning support.First is academic support which is to help students develop and master the content effectively to develop effective learning strategies, such as time
management and collaborative skills. Second is technical support which is to help students
improve their knowledge of the technological tools to be able to use it easily and smoothly. If it is complex ,Ongoing support will be a must.Support includes: troubleshooting, material access, effective online communication as well as, assignments and content.
6)Institution
Institution is the place where the learning process takes place.Institution must include building, desks, and lightening. To apply blended learning the class must include technological infrastructure. It must include strategies, policies, support and service.
In conclusion,These elements must work together without any disruption in any elements to achieve successful blended learning process.
